2019 Honda Civic Hatchback

Car Dealers Wish They Could Match The New 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback – Try As They May, They Can’t Come Close

Until this current generation of the Civic arrived, it wasn’t possible to buy a hatchback version of this very popular car here in America from car dealers like the New Britain Honda dealer, Schaller Honda. That’s all changed now though, and this year is the fourth model year of this tenth-generation of the Civic, which is a car that’s been around now in one form or another since as long ago as 1972. The 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback now gets a mild mid-cycle refresh for the new model year.

Car dealers will tell you this tenth-generation of the Civic has been a big hit with buyers and critics alike since it launched in 2016, so major surgery wasn’t required. Even so, this year sees the car benefitting from updated exterior styling, such as the swapping of chrome for glossy black accents at the front for a cleaner, more contemporary look. There’s also expanded availability of the Sport trim level, the inclusion of even more safety features, and newly standard automatic emergency braking across the lineup.

The experts at Edmunds wrote this about the refreshed Civic: “We’ve been giving this generation Civic top marks since its debut three years ago, and there’s nothing else out this year that’s going to steal the car’s title belt. But here we are anyway with an even better Civic.”

Five different trim levels make up the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback lineup. The entry level model is the LX, and from there the range goes through Sport, EX and EX-L Navi, to the Sport Touring at the top of the range. All versions of the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback get Honda’s excellent 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood, but its 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque is boosted to 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque in Sport and Sport Touring trim levels. The Sport mates the engine to a standard six-speed manual transmission, but the CVT, which is an available option for that model, is standard in every other version of the front-wheel drive 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback.

From the base LX right through to the Sport Touring, every 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback is very generously equipped. Standard equipment with the LX includes: 16-inch alloy wheels, a multi-angle rearview camera, a five-inch color LCD screen, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink with streaming audio, a USB audio interface, automatic climate control, hill start assist, LED daytime running lights and a body-colored rear roofline spoiler. As well as the 180 hp version of the turbo-four with the CVT transmission, Sport models also add 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, sport pedals, an underbody spoiler kit and a center-mounted dual outlet exhaust.

Safety is a big feature of the entire Honda range and the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback is no exception, and this year’s update makes the Civic safer than ever. Every trim level features the Honda Sensing suite of safety equipment, which includes collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with Low-Speed Follow function and lane keeping assist. With its full complement of airbags, stability control, rearview camera and more, the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback has been awarded the highest rating of five stars for overall safety by the NHTSA.
